BAPA 23-24 Opening Seminar Group

Becoming A Provost Academy

Equipping Leaders for the Provost Role

Becoming a Provost Academy (BAPA) is a year-long leadership program tailored to the distinct needs of aspiring provosts/chief academic officers at the American Association of State Colleges & Universities member institutions. BAPA aims to broaden academic leaders’ perspectives beyond their current roles and institutions. Our curriculum prepares participants to foster a deeper understanding of the role and responsibilities of chief academic officers within an institution.

Program Candidates

BAPA is designed for individuals with proven academic or administrative leadership experience within AASCU member institutions aspiring to take on the role of a chief academic officer.

What You’ll Experience

Held in conjunction with AASCU’s Academic Affairs Summer Meeting in July, include sessions led by current and former CAOs, presidents, chancellors, and area experts.

Year-long leadership development plan with guidance from your institutional mentor and the AALI President.

Deep work between the seminars centers on personal development of key skills for aspiring provosts/chief academic officers.

Nomination Process

Candidates seeking to join the program must be nominated by the chief academic officer at their institution, who will also serve as their mentor throughout the program.
